Driving solo to UAB every day is expensive — and pointless
- Campus parking is limited and in high demand: arriving late means no spot
- FGC from Plaça Catalunya takes 25–40 minutes and costs €5 return
- Thousands of students from the same neighbourhoods making the same trip in separate cars
- Fuel, tolls and parking from outside Barcelona: €8–20 per person per day

“We share a car from Manresa to UAB three days a week. It's €8 per person in fuel. What I used to pay for parking alone is more than what we all pay together.”— UAB student from Manresa

FAQ — Carpooling to UAB in Cerdanyola del Vallès
How do you get to UAB from Barcelona by public transport?
The FGC (Generalitat Railways) connects Plaça Catalunya with Universitat Autònoma station in around 25–35 minutes on lines S2 and S55. Carpooling can be more comfortable if you're coming from areas far from the FGC.
Is there parking on the UAB campus?
Yes, the campus has parking, but spots are limited and heavily in demand in the mornings. Sharing a car reduces the number of vehicles and increases the chances of finding a space.
Does VIB3S work for daily university commutes?
Yes. You can post your regular trip (Monday to Friday, same time) and find carpool partners for the whole academic year.
How much do I save by carpooling to UAB?
It depends on your origin. From Manresa or Terrassa, sharing a car among 3 people can work out at €3–5 per person per trip. The FGC from Barcelona costs around €5 return.
Can I also organise the return trip from UAB?
Yes. Post a return trip with the departure time that suits you and coordinate from the app.
Does VIB3S work if I want to carpool some days and not others?
Yes. There's no fixed commitment. You post or join trips whenever it suits you.
