Success story

Canet Rock

Canet Rock × VIB3S

How Canet Rock activated a new form of shared mobility for thousands of attendees.

In 2026, Canet Rock and VIB3S tested how to embed shared mobility directly into a festival's digital journey, to make arrival easier for attendees and ease pressure on access points and parking. And we did it starting the activation with less than two weeks to go.

The challenge

Thousands of people, one destination and a very short window to arrive

Canet Rock brings thousands of attendees into Canet de Mar over a single day. That creates an obvious logistics challenge: a lot of journeys, concentrated into a few hours, with limited parking capacity.

For the organiser the goal was clear: get fewer cars arriving in Canet. But not every mobility alternative is easy to scale.

Collective transport doesn't always fit

Dedicated buses can work very well on certain routes, but they need enough concentrated demand to be efficient. At Canet Rock, building a wide bus network covering every origin simply wasn't viable enough.

The audience comes from many different places and not every corridor has the volume to justify a dedicated line. The challenge was covering that dispersed mobility without creating a transport line for each origin.

A complementary solution

Not replacing existing transport, completing it

VIB3S was designed as a complementary layer of mobility: a way to connect people who already share a journey without knowing it.

  • Going to the same festival
  • Leaving from compatible areas
  • Travelling at similar times
  • With free seats in their vehicle
  • Needing an alternative to public transport

Instead of creating more vehicles to move attendees, VIB3S helps make better use of the vehicles already heading to the festival.

And the journey is part of the experience too: sharing a car doesn't only split the cost, it connects people going to the same event and turns an individual trip into a shared one.

How we did it

VIB3S, right inside the Canet Rock website

We embedded the VIB3S widget into the festival's website so attendees could discover and start using shared mobility without leaving the event's environment. The widget worked as the gateway into the community and reduced the friction of discovering the service.

The result

The community responded especially in the final days

Even though the activation started with fewer than 14 days to go, activity grew quickly as the event approached.

The results showed there was real demand for shared mobility among attendees. And above all, that proximity to the event is a particularly powerful moment to activate that need.

The widget was key

Before downloading an app, people need to understand what they can get out of it. One of the main learnings of the activation was precisely the role of the widget.

By embedding it directly in the Canet Rock website, attendees could discover the VIB3S proposition within the festival's own context. The widget became the access point between the festival's digital ecosystem and the mobility community.

Where attendees came from

Festival mobility doesn't start in Canet

Trip data showed a significant share of activity concentrated in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, plus other points such as Girona and Lleida.

That makes it possible to identify the audience's main mobility corridors and understand where activating specific solutions makes most sense.

For a festival, that changes the question. It's no longer just:

How does my audience get here?

but:

Where is my audience coming from, and what options can we activate on each corridor?

What we learned

01

The demand is there

The activation showed there is real interest in sharing journeys among attendees of the same festival.

02

Proximity drives intent

Activity rose especially in the final days before the event: mobility becomes urgent when the festival is close.

03

The widget removes friction

Letting people discover the proposition straight from the website makes entering the service far easier.

04

Not everything has to be a bus

Buses work with concentrated demand on certain corridors. When the audience is dispersed, shared cars cover far more origins without a dedicated line for each.

05

Activate earlier

The main room for improvement was time. With under two weeks there was activity, but starting weeks earlier would have built supply and demand progressively.

From a one-off activation to a strategy

What we did at Canet Rock can become a system for any festival

Before buying the ticket

The festival presents the different options for getting there.

After buying

The attendee sorts out how to get there and posts or looks for a trip.

Weeks before

The community is activated through web, email, social and other owned channels.

Final days

Communication intensifies as travel intent rises.

Festival day

Attendees already have a shared mobility network around the event.

Afterwards

The organiser gets data on journeys and the impact generated.

What if your festival activated it with time?

Canet Rock showed that even a late activation generates movement. But the real potential is in starting earlier.

  1. 8 to 12 weeks before

    Planning and integration

    Defining corridors, channels and goals.

  2. 6 to 8 weeks before

    Building the community

    First communications and driver activation.

  3. 3 to 4 weeks before

    Supply and demand

Campaigns across web, email, ticketing and social.

  4. Final 2 weeks

    Peak activation

Reminders, content and calls to action.

  5. Festival day

    Mobility live

    Trips, connections and monitoring.

  6. Afterwards

    Impact report

Data, shared trips, impact and learnings for the next edition.

Fewer cars. More options. More information.

VIB3S helps festivals add a flexible, complementary mobility option alongside what they already have. We connect attendees to share trips and costs, while the organiser gets insight into how their audience travels.

You don't need to create more transport. You need to make better use of what's already moving.
