Guide for the snow

How to carpool to a ski resort

To carpool to a ski resort, post the free seats in your car on VIB3S or join the ride of someone leaving near you for the same resort. You split fuel and tolls, and with the gear well organised several people fit in one car.

The key in the snow is planning: gear, road and time back.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Post or find the ride

Add the resort, departure time and number of seats. If you don't have a car, look for a ride leaving near you.

  2. 2

    Talk about gear before booking

Skis or a board, boots and a backpack take space: confirm in the chat that they fit, and whether there's a ski rack or roof box.

  3. 3

    Agree on the time back

People usually head back when the slopes close: settle it in advance so nobody is left waiting.

Mountain roads

  • Check road conditions before leaving: in winter there may be restrictions or mandatory chains.
  • The driver decides whether to carry chains or winter tyres; if the route requires it, confirm in the chat.
  • Leaving early cuts queues on the access roads and at the resort car park.
  • On the way back, after a day on the slopes, tiredness matters: if you're driving, rest first.

How much it costs

The driver sets the price per seat to share the real trip costs: fuel and tolls. With a full car each person pays a small share of the total. VIB3S adds its management fee when you book (a 15% commission on the trip price, plus the payment cost and VAT) and you see the total before paying.

Weekend trips and snow events

For trips of several days, post the outbound and return as separate rides. VIB3S also runs at snow events, such as Esquiades.com's Skick Off Party in Alpe d'Huez.

If you run a resort or a snow event, see VIB3S for ski resorts.

Frequently asked questions

Which app can I use to carpool to the snow?

On VIB3S you can post your ride to the resort or join someone's from your area, and sort out gear and the ride home in the chat.

Will my skis fit in a shared car?

It depends on the car. Ask the driver before booking whether they have a ski rack or roof box and how much gear you're bringing.

Who brings the chains?

The driver is responsible for having the car ready for the route. If snow is forecast, confirm in the chat before leaving.

Can I go and come back the same day?

Yes. Agree on the time back, usually when the slopes close, and post or book both legs.
