Do I have to declare what I receive as a driver?
VIB3S is about sharing costs, not charging for a service. Under Spanish tax authority (AEAT) criteria, splitting a personal journey's expenses between private individuals — as long as it doesn't exceed the actual cost of the trip — is not considered an economic activity. For higher amounts or specific situations, consult a tax advisor.
Does my insurance cover me if I carry VIB3S passengers?
In Spain, cost-sharing between private individuals (carpooling with no profit motive) is legally distinct from paid transport, which requires special authorisation. If what you receive doesn't exceed the actual cost of the journey, it's not considered commercial transport. That said, if you want certainty, check with your insurer — many policies now explicitly cover cost-sharing carpooling.
